Grand Opening: A Huge Success!
The grand opening of EQUIPD Allied Health was an incredible milestone. We were thrilled to have strong support from Ministers Rachel Stephen-Smith and Chris Steel, who were instrumental in our journey. A big thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us – the turnout was fantastic! For those who couldn’t join us but sent their well wishes, we extend our heartfelt thanks. Special thanks to our host, Duncan Armstrong, and, of course, to our dedicated staff and all those who helped prepare for the event.
With the grand opening behind us, we’re looking ahead to ensure the long-term success of EQUIPD as a sustainable community hub. To do that, we need your help! We encourage you to spread the word about our gym to your friends, family, and colleagues. If you love the community we’re building, invite them to come check it out.
Equipment Updates
Our new gym equipment has been rolling in steadily. We’ve recently taken delivery of our new arm bikes, adding more variety and accessibility to cardio training.
The final major piece we’re waiting for is a LifeFitness adjustable cable machine, which will provide even more accessible training options for members. Additionally, we’re rounding out our initial offering with some small accessories to enhance the free weights section.
Going Multidisciplinary with Data-Driven Services
By now, you’ve probably met Steven, our Accredited Exercise Scientist, who has been working with members in the everactive classes, keeping a watchful eye on the gym floor and supporting our exercise physiology programs. But that’s not all Steven’s been up to! EQUIPD recently made an exciting investment in the Strength by Numbers AxIT System, a cutting-edge strength testing and analytics tool.
This next-generation system will allow us to collect objective data from clients across a wide range of health and fitness levels. The AxIT system is perfect for baseline testing, assessing interventions, population health data collection, and even high-performance sports applications. What you do with this data will be up to you – whether you’re tracking progress, setting new goals, or just getting to know your body’s capacity and areas for improvement.
In addition to strength assessments, Steven is helping us develop new services, such as balance and falls risk assessments, which we’ll be rolling out soon.
Yoga Expansion: Evening Classes are Here!
It’s been amazing to see how popular our yoga classes have become. To make sure everyone has access to these offerings, we’re excited to announce the launch of our first evening yoga class! Starting October 30th, Vinyasa Yoga, led by Ingrid, will take place every Wednesday at 6 PM. This marks our first step towards expanding our class schedule to include more evening options, making it easier for members to fit classes into their busy lives.
This is a class with an energising flow, designed to challenge and uplift everyone, regardless of experience. We can’t wait to see you on the mat!
Website Uplift
You may have noticed that our new website has officially gone live. You can now easily purchase memberships online, check the group fitness timetable, or access the members’ app page to reserve your spot in classes. Additionally, over the coming weeks and months, we’ll be making small improvements, particularly in providing more detailed information about our clinical services and facilities. Stay tuned for these updates!
Exploring New Ideas to Support New Mums
We’ve heard from some new community members about the need for supportive exercise options for new mums, and we’re starting to explore the possibility of creating a program tailored for them. The idea is simple: provide new mums with dedicated time to exercise in the gym while experienced mothers or volunteers watch over their babies.
At this stage, it’s just a thought, but we’re gauging interest and would love to hear from anyone who might want to get involved, whether as a participant or as a volunteer. If you’re interested in supporting this initiative, please reach out.
Meet Our Students
You may have noticed some new faces on the gym floor recently! Kyle and Blake, our current Exercise Physiology students from the University of Canberra, have been actively assisting with sessions and gaining hands-on experience in how we operate here at EQUIPD. Be sure to say hello and flag them down next time you’re in – they’re always eager to chat and happy to help with any questions you might have.
As they approach their final placement and prepare for their exit exams in November, we wish them the very best in their journey toward becoming qualified health professionals!
Member Feedback: Your Input Matters
At EQUIPD, we’re always striving to improve, and your feedback is crucial in helping us make the right changes. Whether it’s about our equipment, class offerings, or anything else, we want to hear from you. Your suggestions help us create a better experience for everyone, so please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts with us.
